I noticed a few days ago that Naili's feathers are changing. Below you can see some thicker brown feathers coming in. In the past 24 hours she has been shedding her baby stuff. Just now I had noticed that her yellow spots are white. When did this happen?!?!?
Got a lot of tomatoes growing. Here's a fat one I just picked! I'll be feeding some more to the ducklings I suppose as I have more than I will eat. Oh yeah, I have cucumbers too that I can feed them.
Hmmm, I wonder how many photos this site will hold.......
Lamar, I have a Question: Would it be mean of me to take my Muscovy hen's eggs from her and put them in an incubator because I worry about the safety of the ducklings after they hatch? And I need the duck house for the other ducks and I don't know how I am going to keep them all separated. Should I just leave them until they hatch and try not to worry about it? I don't know what to do!
ReplyDeletePersonally if I didn't see any eggs being pushed off the nest I'd leave them till they hatch, but I haven't the experience with this. For me the mother and three others live out back in the pond and she was laying them in my shrubbery and then going back to the pond so i decided to incubate as I didn't want rotten eggs outside my kitchen window. If she had stayed on them I never would have taken them. I can give you a link to a site(in England) that has been really helpful and a lot of folks there have years of experience with this sort of thing.

It has a pretty active community. There is also a facebook group I dabble in and it is:

or do a search for Live Ducks
Sorry I can't give you a definitive answer, but I'm a lot newer at this than you. :)
